Man stabbed to death in lobby of skyscraper next to US embassy

Two male suspect were arrested following reports of an altercation at DAMAC Tower, Vauxhall, south-west London early on Saturday.

Terrified residents said the 50-storey skyscraper at Bondway, Vauxhall, remains “in lockdown”.

The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation.

Officers were called to the address following reports of an altercation at 5.38am on Saturday.

The victim was treated by the emergency services for knife injuries but despite the best efforts of medics he succumbed to his injuries.

A Met spokesman said: “His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“A crime scene is in place while police investigate the circumstances.”

Two men, aged 33 and 35, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

GB News reported that the landlord told tenants in a note: “The police are presently on the premises, diligently managing the situation.

“We would like to assure you that the building is secure, and there is no cause for concern with your safety.

“As a precautionary measure, the police have requested that the elevators be temporarily unavailable while they conduct their investigation.”

Detective Inspector Aytac Necati, leading the investigation, said: “Sadly, a man has lost his life in the most horrendous of circumstances. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“We understand the effect this will have on the local community, and will ensure that officers are deployed on reassurance patrols to respond to any questions or concerns.

“Two men have already been arrested.

“Detectives are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened.

“At this time, we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
