A man has been arrested in the UK over two fatal shootings in Spain.

Merseyside Police said the 44-year-old man was detained on Friday and appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Extradition proceedings have begun and the suspect, from Merseyside, has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date, the force added.

Police said the arrest was in connection with a double shooting on 31 May that saw two Scottish men – Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan shot dead by a hooded gunman outside an Irish pub in Fuengirola.

Earlier this month, Police Scotland said there was “no intelligence to suggest” the double shooting was linked to recent criminal attacks in Scotland.

The victims of this double shooting are believed to be gangsters Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons.
