Tay Jordan, who hails from South London, is an artist who has been quietly amassing a dedicated fanbase over the last few years. For us to know about Tay, we need to learn more about him as a person.

Who is Tay Jordan:

The Max B rapper hails specifically from Norwood, South-East London. He seems to be the UK’s answer to West Coast rap, mixing elements of trap and UK underground. This musical blend creates the unique retro-futuristic sound that we hear from Tay.

Tay grew up in a musical family, with his father being a producer who’s worked with large UK acts such as the Sugababes & Leona Lewis. He would begin his path into rap when grime made an emergence and would rap alongside his peers in school. The South London rapper even spent some time singing due to his love for neo-soul.

UK & US Music Influences:

In an interview with respected underground music critic Ed Rants, he spoke on some of his influences. He touched on being an avid Max B fan; in addition, he spoke on some of his UK Rap influences being legends in the road rap scene, such as Islington legend Benny Banks, Joe Black, and Youngs Teflon.

As previously mentioned, Tay tried his hand at singing and also is a fan of the neo-soul sound. This has allowed him to drop songs which stand out, such as Say What’s Up, which features Mya K.

Songs, Projects & Collabs:

Tay’s first release was a mellow tune titled Posted. Since then, the rapper has gone on to drop 3 projects and countless singles.

His most streamed song on Spotify at the time of writing is Salute, which sits at 610K streams and counting. Salute features Lowfades & Ashbeck and is on his 2023 project Have A Nice Trip (If you were at Rap Council’s Shutdown show, you’d know that Salute went off!!).

Just a year later, he gave us another project called Player of the Year, which sees acts such as Kibo & Wax Bentayga. Speaking on features, he featured on afrosurrealist’s project BUYBRITISH on the track Spend the Night.

Tay Jordan – The Last Run EP:

On April 8th, Tay Jordan released yet another project called The Last Run. This 10-track EP features Skengdo & Mya K. Skengdo features on G’s Prayer, whilst Mya K can be caught on Say What’s Up.
