American artist Azealia Banks defends Stormzy from those who were slandering him online due to him receiving a doctorate from Cambridge University.

On Wednesday UK rapper Stormzy arrived at the prestigious University of Cambridge to receive an honourary doctorate degree in Law.

The London based grime artist, real name Michael Omari Owuo Junior was awarded this doctorate in recognition of his philanthropic work including in education, music, sport and literature.

In 2018 the grime behemoth launched a scholarship programme at the university which allowed black British students to get each year for their tuition and maintenance costs fully covered.

He has also spoke out against the Conservative party and spoken in support of the Palestinian cause.

Despite this some Palestine action members had detest for him, in part because of him deleting his post against Israels’s genocide in Gaza as well as accepting the doctorate from Cambridge University who have involvement in Israel’s military operations.

Azealia Banks would not have any of it and said this:

Much of the anger against Stormzy seems to come from his use of political activism in music and branding.

The reason as to why people took issue with him collaborating with McDonalds to create a meal is their Israeli franchisee’s gave free meals to IDF soldiers leading to worldwide boycotts; however the business later took control over all their Israeli franchise’s and no longer provide the IDF with free meals or any support.
