Donald Trump has announced that the US has carried out air strikes against Venezuela and have effectively kidnapped their leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.
The pair were taken away and flown out of the country by helicopters following strikes on Caracas and military sites around 2 a.m. local time.
Venezuela condemned the action as illegal aggression.
