UK Rap staple K-Trap has dropped his fifth major Project titled Trapo 2 which is a sequel of his 2021 mixtape Trapo. The South London rapper has had crazy support during the run up for this project which will be be followed up by an October tour. We will be going in-depth further starting of with the begininng of the album and following up with our favourite tracks.

SHOOTERS BE:

K-Trap started off his album with SHOOTERS BE which was okay but definetely not a stand-out song nor is it one to remember. In my opinion it felt as if something was missing from this track; However delivery and beat was on point. Not a bad track overall but seemed to be more of a filler track if anything.

MYSTERY BOX:

This hard hitting track featured another UK Rap staple, Headie One. This track had aggression, flow and a hard instrumental. Headie was also cold on this track. Here we heard his typical adlibs alongside and heavy bars. The pair went in, though this is what we expect when two of the UK’s GOAT’s link up on a track!

DEMONS

This track features an organ instrument that helps create a soft, melancholic tone and features singer Isabel. On this track, K-Trap reflects on his past life, the choices he has made, his struggle with his demons, as well as the unfortunate deaths of his close friends. Among those he reflects on are the prominent Harlem Spartans rapper Bis, as well as Chris “Itch” Kaba, who was fatally shot by armed police officer Martyn Blake on September 5, 2022, in Streatham, London.

This is an emotive track that many listeners can relate to, particularly once you look beyond the surface-level lyrics and explore the deeper meaning behind them. It’s good to see this side of the Warm hitmaker.

GREEDY GUY

Initially, when I played this track, I felt unmoved by it. However, it is a track that you need to give a chance. It gets better as it progresses, with the second verse easily outdoing the first as K-Trap brings more energy and intensity.

This is arguably K-Trap’s strongest solo track on the project.

Summary & Rating

Overall, we rate this project 3.5 out of 5. For us, the strongest tracks tended to be the ones that featured other artists. It seemed like K-Trap had more energy when collaborating in the studio, which was reflected in some of the project’s standout moments.

Speaking of features, his choice of collaborators was impressive, particularly SPEED CHASE with UK underground heavyweight Len. However, the most high-profile feature, CHANGE, which features Chicago rapper G Herbo, didn’t quite hit the spot for us and ultimately felt underwhelming.
