What Is UK Poo?

UK Poo can best be described as a satirical microgenre of UK rap that is typically characterised by awkward flows, questionable lyrics and an ignorance of how poor the overall track is. The term was coined online in July 2026 and went viral across TikTok and X, with numerous artists and tracks being labelled as part of the genre.

While some artists appear to take their music seriously, despite the poor feedback they receive, others simply view music as an outlet.

In this piece, we will share our opinions on UK Poo, explore what defines the genre and take a look at some of its most viral tracks.

UK POO:

We have a controversial opinion on UK Poo… We think it could be a good thing.

UK rappers, both upcoming and established, can sometimes be reluctant to experiment or express themselves beyond what is considered the norm. British culture can be quite siloed, creating an environment where people can feel pressured to “stay in their lane” and “know their place”. These attitudes aren’t necessarily helpful when artists are trying to find their sound, develop their identity or expand their creative palette.

In our opinion, UK Poo could actually help change this. Its popularity may give talented artists the confidence to experiment, take risks and be more creative without being as concerned about how their work will be received.

Ironically, the very thing that makes UK Poo entertaining could also make it valuable. By embracing music that is intentionally or unintentionally unconventional, artists may become less afraid of negative feedback and more willing to explore ideas that they otherwise wouldn’t have considered.

Perhaps UK Poo isn’t just a joke genre. Perhaps it’s a reminder that artists don’t always need to take themselves seriously to be creative.

Viral Tracks:

Slap Me Again:

One of the biggest UK Poo tracks comes from an artist named SAVVY. In multiple interviews and TikToks, she has revealed that the song was inspired by an incident involving her sister.

SAVVY recalls her older sister slapping her for seemingly no reason while they were on a train. She became upset about the incident but eventually decided that, if her sister tried it again, she wouldn’t let it slide.

This experience inspired both the lyrics and title of her viral Slap Me Again track. The song became a way for SAVVY to express her feelings about the situation while simultaneously sending a message to her sister: if she thinks SAVVY is an easy target, she should “think again.”

Shake It

Another viral hit in this parodical genre is Shake It by Famous Ak. In a TikTok video he said he made the track simply as a joke and then decided to tease it online for the sake of it until it just blew up and now over 52,000 TikToks have been made using his sound!

Overall:

Although UK Poo can be seen as cringe and is often perceived negatively within the UK rap scene, we believe it could ultimately help foster a new cohort of talented rappers that the scene desperately needs.

By encouraging artists to experiment, express themselves and not take criticism too seriously, UK Poo could have a surprisingly positive impact on the next generation of UK rap.
