150 people evacuated from Guy’s Hospital after ‘chemical incident’

Around 150 people were evacuated from the basement and ground floor of a building at Guy’s Hospital in central London after reports of a chemical incident, London Fire Brigade (LFB) said.

Two fire engines, two fire rescue units, a command unit were sent as well asand specialist hazardous materials officers after being called to the hospital, near London Bridge railway station, at 08:49 BST.

LFB said its crews carried out “operations to ventilate the building”.

The incident was resolved just after 11:00. Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has been approached for comment.
