Drake’s legal team want Universal Music Group (UMG) boss’s emails and Kendrick Lamar’s contract details as the Canadian launches defamation lawsuit against the music titans.
Aubrey “Drake” Grahams legal team motions seeks a court order to force UMG to hand over emails and other ‘custodial files’ of its boss Sir Lucian Grainge, as well as “an unredacted copy of Kendrick Lamar’s recording contract with UMG”.
The filings go into more detail about what information Drake’s team is seeking and why, as well as its allegations that the major label has been unwilling to disclose it.
Angles being explored include whether UMG had “a contractual right to censor or restrict musical works, including rap lyrics, based on what UMG perceives to be defamatory or otherwise harmful content”.
We’ll bring you any later developments in this case.
DJ Akademiks previously urged Drake that he should move on from this situation as it gives his rap nemesis K.Dot more attention.
