Kneecap’s recently Plymouth has been cancelled due to “safety concerns”, organisers have said.
On Tuesday the Eden Sessions in Cornwall announced the band’s appearance scheduled for 4 July had been cancelled before a gig for the same date at Plymouth Pavilions was later announced by the band on the same day.
Plymouth Pavilions have now called of the show after they’ve “taken advice from relevant authorities and agencies.”
The rap trio hailing from west Belfast trio are being investigated by Counter Terror Police due to remarks at a November 2023 gig appearing to show one person from the band saying: “The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP.”
Counter Terror Police are also reviewing footage from a gig in the O2, Kentish Town where a member of the group allegedly shouted “Up Hamas, Up Hezbollah” whilst seemingly being filmed by a fan.
Kneecap have given a public statement rejecting “any suggestion that we would seek to incite violence against any MP or individual. Ever.”
Plymouth Pavilions said in a statement: “The safety of our valued visitors is always our primary concern and as such we feel confident in this decision.”
