Fakemink is under some scrutiny by music fans and critics for his alleged homophobia as well as saying “i’m barely a rapper i’m an artist”.
Fakemink who performed at Wireless alongside Drake seemingly sent shots at Nettspend saying “You won’t ever catch man in a dress” or “doing ungodly sh*t”.
Many also took issue with him saying he’s “Barely a rapper” as that statement seemed like a way to undermine the UK Rap industry and culture.
Others compared him to Post Malone who many argue used rap as a way to make it before deviating into Pop & Country music.
Blackboyfly on Twitter said “idk how we let this guy become the biggest in the scene lmao Vince Staples gets proven right everyday”.
“i’m barely a rapper i’m an artist”

Music journalist Ed Rants had this to say:
People need to realise that “I’m barely a rapper I’m an artist” is usually code for:
— EdRants (@Ed_Rants) October 5, 2025
1) being insecure about inferior rap ability
2) a signal that they’re about to throw rap under the bus after using it on the come up
9 times out of 10 https://t.co/lIOMw3cXZO
Many fans went on to say that Fakeminks statement is an example of anti-blackness and a way to imply that rap isn’t art.
Underground artist htmljones said that he copied swag from Transwomen.
