In recent ballot, nearly 400 workers voted in favour of continued strike action.
The results of the ballot revealed that 97% of workers backed further industrial action on a 75% turnout.
Following the outcome of the vote, Unite has confirmed the bin workers’ ongoing industrial action that began in January ‘could last until December’.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham has declared “the strikes will continue for as long as it takes”, emphasising that “Unite will not allow these workers to be financially ruined”.
The union rejected a pay offer proposed by the Government to end the strikes, which Graham has labelled “watered down” and inconsistent with the “ballpark offer discussed during Acas talks in May”.
“The decision makers at Birmingham council need to get in the room and put forward an acceptable offer”, Graham added.
