Brainrot rap has become the buzz as of late, especially for the Generation Alpha and younger age groups on Gen-Z.

In the ever-evolving landscape of internet culture, a surprisingly new musical phenomenon emerged called brainrot rap.

This genre, born from the meme-saturated corners of Generation Z and Alpha’s online world, is equal parts satirical, absurdity, and oddly catchy.

This brainrot has become the unofficial soundtrack of a generation “fried” by endless scrolling and short-form content.

What even is Brainrot:

Brainrot refers to the negative psychological and cognitive effects caused by exposure to low-quality or valueless content online.

It is often used to describe the supposed impact of excessive use of digital media, especially short-form entertainment and doom scrolling, which may affect mental health.

Brainrot rap thrives on platforms like SoundCloud, Spotify, and YouTube, where artists like Party Tunes, Jolkite, and JennyDPeriod drop tracks referencing popular Gen Alpha slang “skibidi,” “rizz,” “fanum tax,”.

Brainrot rap also tends to use brainrot memes as well. The best example of brainrot memes is Italian brainrot. It’s too ridiculous to write about so watch the video below:

Many critics believe that Brainrot rap takes away from the artform, believing that this showcases the overall decline of society and culture.

Others say that rap has been heading towards brainrot with rap songs becoming shorter whilst lyrics are becoming increasingly more degenerate.
