UK rapper Stormzy arrived at the prestigious University of Cambridge to receive an honourary doctorate degree in Law.
However he wasn’t well received by pro-Palestinian protesters who have grievances with both the university and the grime legend.
Cambridge University has investments in companies involved in Israel‘s military operations. Trinity College (It’s wealthiest college) has invested £61,735 into Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest arms company, which produces 85% of the drones and land-based equipment used by the Israeli army.
the college has investments worth approximately £2.5m (around $3.2m) in Caterpillar, a US-based heavy equipment company that has been the target of boycott campaigns for its sale of bulldozers to the Israeli army.
Stormzy who was vocal regarding the genocide in Gaza has received criticism over the last few months for accepting a sponsorship with McDonalds & removing his posts regarding Palestine.
People took issue as McDonalds as their Israeli franchise gave meals to IDF soldiers leading to boycotts; however the business later took control over their Israeli franchise’s and no longer provide the IDF with free meals.
Although the McDonalds situation is a non-issue, it seems that many dispise the fact he removed his pro-gaza posts.
After the controversy Stormzy would go on to post the image below on his Instagram:

However him accepting a honourary degree from Cambridge has reignited questions on his integrity, with many calling him a hypocrite.
This video below shows a protester questioning the grime rapper about Palestine and its people.

Many have said that Stormzy deserves the backlash as he built his career by being politically outspoken; however some believe we shouldn’t hold a celebrity to such a high esteem.

Call me when you’re ready to discuss how the (rightful) anger towards the genocide is being disproportionately exerted onto Stormzy and it’s actually quite obvious why (no, not just because he’s Black).
