A Drogheda rapper is to be sentenced after admitting to facilitating organised crime and handling cash for a gang operating in the town.

Dean Thornton, 27, of Moneymore in Drogheda, Co Louth, entered the guilty pleas to the offences at Dundalk Circuit Court on Friday.

His co-defendant Gary Kelly, 29, also of Moneymore has also pleaded guilty to facilitating organised crime.

Thornton, who’s stage name is Dean Thornton AMF, pleaded guilty to Section 72 enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation to facilitate a serious offence of the sale and supply of drugs and money laundering, while Kelly pleaded to the same Section 72 offence.

Both men were charged earlier this year & were remanded in custody after that short hearing. No bail application was made.

Now that both have entered guilty pleas, they continue to be remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Dundalk Circuit Court next February.

Thornton was charged shortly after releasing a new rap track on Dearfxch TV via YouTube and on social media channels.

He launched his rap career back in May 2024 and has released numerous tracks with highly polished music videos.

His first official music video titled ‘Dean Thornton AMF – Real Street Kids’ opened with an overview scene of the Moneymore estate in Drogheda where several of the Boylan Organised Crime Group are from.
