A fundraiser has been raised for Marcus Fakana, who was imprisoned in Dubai for a year for having consensual sex with a girl a month younger than him.

British teenager Marcus Fakana, 19, has died in the early hours of Friday morning (4th October, 2025) after the vehicle he was in crashed.

Marcus was previously jailed unjustly in Dubai at just 18 for having consensual sex with 17 year-old who turned 18 a month after their sexual encounter.

The mother of the girl would see their conversations on social media and report Fakana to Emirati authorities where he was arrested.

He would receive a royal pardon in July from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum after serving a year in a Dubai prison.

Funds from the GoFundMe will be used to help with ‘funeral and memorial costs’ and to ‘ease the financial burden as they prepare to lay their son to rest.’
