Four men have gone on trial for the murder of 20-year-old Tamba Momodu – who is originally from London – He was shot dead in Telford, Shropshire, on October 2020.
Momodu had been acquitted, in 2018 of the murder of rival gang member Abdullahi Tarabi in Northolt, north west London in 2017.
It is said that Momodu (aka Teerose) belonged to the Rayners Lane gang whilst Tarabi aka ‘Teewizz’ belonged to N-Gang which hails from Northolt.
Prosecutor James Curtis KC told a jury in Loughborough “This case concerns a cold-blooded execution of a young man.” He said the defendants worked together “as a team” to orchestrate the ambush of Momodu in broad daylight as he arrived at a gym, shooting him 6 times at point-blank range
Mr Curtis said:
“The motive was revenge, for another execution–the killing of the brother of the 1st defendant, Mahamud Tarabi, & the cousin of the 2nd defendant, Ahmed Karshe. (Momodu) had been tried for it and acquitted three years earlier and then moved away from under the radar.”
“This killing was his payback, once they had tracked him down to his new life following that trial,” said the prosecutor.
Mahamud Tarabi (Abdullahi’s brother), 33, Ahmed Karshe (Abdullahi’s cousin), 31, Merje Ngoy, 25, and Deria Hassan, 33, all deny murdering Momodou.
We interview Abdullahi Tarabi’s younger sister, Maryam Tarabi, in 2023 where she spoke on how the death of her brother affected her and more. Watch below:
